hey so im new to the forums world. I was wondering how i made the menu bar static, and up at the top where it says darkbreak, how i can change that to say something else(for example, henry).also, what software to i need to open and edit the source files for this theme? and once it is as i want it, how to i implement it into my forums?

First of all you will need a graphics editing software to edit the current logo or create your own logo to replace the original Darkbreak logo. You can download the source files here.

To add your new image you will need to either use the file manager that comes with your hosting or use an FTP program. The new image needs to be the same name and format as the image that you are replacing. In this case the image should be named logo and in gif format (logo.gif). Then transfer your new logo, overwriting the old logo. The logo is located in the themes images folder (Themes/Darkbreak_20/images/custom/logo.png)

thanks! the forums im using is smfnew.com All the guides iv looked up on editing/making your own theme say to go to admin-configuration-themes- than the install your own theme category and click "copy" of your current theme. On my forums there isnt an install theme area. Do i need a pro/paid version of the forums to be able to install and copy my own theme? or am i just mental. hope that made sense

Hi,

I believe you can't install/modify themes with SMFnew. If you want to have total freedom with your forum and themes, you're better of getting your own domain/host.

when i open core FTP its all so confusing. do you use it personally? is there a guide for step by step instructions on how to customize a theme and upload it to a website? reading russian upside down makes more sense than the guides i can find on smf, and im not even sure if its what i should be looking at.
All i want to do is:
Customize the logo.gif on the darkbreak theme
upload it to my forums
I have the logo i want to use, just no idea how to implement it into my software
