Upgrade? $$?
« on: Dec 26, 2011, 02:36:01 »
I purchased the 'subscription' to get the 'noize' theme when it was 2.0 RC4. I am now upgrading to 2.0.2. Do I really have to spend another €30.00 to get the theme upgrade???? AND all further upgrades? that is outrageous.

You guys should really rethink your structure and allow free upgrades to the software (templates) youre selling. The subscription thing is very inconvenient and non-cost effective for customers like me.

Please let me know what other options I have. I am now considering changing the template on my site because of this.   :banghead:

I believe the only option is to purchase the subscription again, but if you have the 2.0 gold version, there is no problems, the theme will still work fine.

Hi,

Everything is well explained in the Theme Club FAQ:

Quote
Can i still use the themes after my membership expired?

Yes, you can use the themes for as long as you wish. However, when your membership expires, you will no longer have access to the premium theme support boards and theme updates.

So indeed, if you want an upgraded version of Noize, you'll need to renew your membership. We are not going to change that and if you look around you'll see that most of the themeclubs on the web have this same policy.
If you don't want to renew your membership that's no problem, you can always do the upgrade yourself or indeed choose another template.

Can I ask how hard it is to perform the update manually?

From rc4 to 2.0.2 there are quite a few changes. For the beginner it would probably be a difficult task.  But the theme in question is a premium theme, therefore the details of such changes cannot be discussed here.

Goad, there has been a few great themes that have been released between the release of RC4 and 2.0.2 so it's not just as if you are only getting the upgrade, you are getting access to all the themes and support for them.

I'm not fan of this either the club stuff that is. But DS does put out some pretty kick ass themes. :goodstuff:
