Hello

If by compatible, you mean they install properly and are displayed on the portal page then they are compatible, the only issue worth mentioning is that with SimplePortal, the left-side of the title bar usually defaults to the default theme, which can be corrected by simply copy pasting the portal.css in the default theme directory to your custom theme's directory (in the css folder).

As for Wedge, by my understanding, a lot of the legacy code in SMF has been removed in Wedge and a lot of the layouts have been changed to display differently to the current setup that SMF uses. I do not think these themes will work on Wedge, as none of the SMF mods (that aren't already supported by Wedge authors) will not work on Wedge.

Making themes for Wedge will be a lot easier though, because they've implemented CSS substyles (which is very interesting and promising after you've read more about it) so it will not be long before some decent Wedge themes start surfacing once Wedge has been properly released.

I'll leave any other information that needs to be stated up to Arantor, as he is part of Wedge's development and can clear more things up for you if you have any more questions.

There is even a FAQ topic on this very point on wedge.org, there is not one SMF mod or theme that will work on Wedge. This was intentional to ensure that we're not trying in vain to hold some misguided sense on compatibilty (which would severely limit what we want to do in Wedge)
When you want help, I'm likely to ask you questions. It's not because I'm a stubborn pain in the backside, it's because I need that information to actually be *able* to help you. Sooner you provide it, sooner you get help, simple as that.

I get Your point of view, but its sad that all free contributions, themes, mods done by community are missed.
I dislike what happned with SMF and agree with You, but anyway its sad ;( I hope template site - like this one will ASAP support Wedge.

I might give making themes for Wedge a try. Arantor, is there is there a mailing list for when the official release comes out?

It's sad that I'm breaking compatibility so that things can be done more cleanly, more safely and without file edits? By forcing compatibility to be broken, I can make sure that new mods are properly written which means far fewer issues in the long run.

Besides of the 1500 mods currently available for SMF, there's a great many crap ones, so the loss is not as significant as it sounds anyway.

@Chair, no, there's no mailing list.
