I don't mean to sound rude, if I come across as such. It's just that I'd rather be absolutely blunt and honest about where I'm coming from, and I know that's been mistaken in the past for rudeness.
You're not being rude in any way. And besides we appreciate your opinion.  ;)

Well since you're asking, as far as appearance I would not consider it as an "overhaul" but more of a very mild facelift.
Indeed, the word "facelift" was a better choice. It's not always simple to use the exact words to explain yourself in another language.  ;)

I understand that there may be a lot of code changes to make the site more lightweight and appealing but personally I see a trend in the overall appearance from past versions. The colors themselves seem to mock all previous DS default theme styles, or come very close.
That's true, not only does Bikken and I love the same color scheme, we also see it as some point of recognition.

I would also consider adding a slight bit of roundness to the corners of the cat/title bars to take away from the plain square look.
We love straight lines combined with round elements (i.e. round icons) to keep everything in balance. We don't like the combination of all rounded corners/catbg/titlebg/icons/... in the same design. But we'll might play around with the roundness of the corners of some elements though to see how it comes out.  ;)

To be quite honest, I agree with Arantor regarding the empty space. While it's possibly the cleanest theme I have ever seen (and gets my congratulations just because of that), it seems very empty. Another issue is that it needs a bit more colour.

Blue, white and black is quite overdone. I haven't really been a fan of mixing oranges with whites and blacks like you've done in the past, but I feel this design really needs another colour in there, but it needs to be subtle, like a reflection or inner glow or even just a border - just to give it some life. Any colour as long as it looks appealing. Maybe a brown? Or a pink? ...Actually, maroon would look pretty decent in that design.

Some people deserve a high five once in a while....in the face... with an ARG
(see what I did there?)

I think that the color scheme is to dziner studio like red is to coca cola. I think the design is very clean and probably the best I have seen, but I guess looking and using are two different words so I am going to have to wait until I get a hands on with the theme and am able to inspect it completely.

If I'm honest guy's, it's very impressive and nice. But, I think it's very safe? It's very similar to what you ave here already and truth be told doesn't really showcase what you guy's are really capable of!

It would be nice to see some colour injected into the site here and maybe a nice new logo, I'm sure you have plenty planned but if I wasn't a regular user here and only popped in every now and then would I notice the difference? I think not to be blunt...

Please don't take it the wrong way it's very nice but to samey for here and a fresh new look would be better, if you going to change then make it an obvious one.. ;)

We appreciate everyones opinion and it's always interesting to hear what you guys think about it. All your tips will be taken in considering. One thing we've already planned is adding another/more color(s) here and there.  ;)

Hey everyone,

We're planning a site overhaul for dzinerstudio somewhere in the near future. Things we're planning to change are: the overall design, the forum layout (tableless board- and message index), a reorganized frontpage,...

So we thought it might be cool to show you guys an early preview of the design and board index. Some details might still change but feel free to share your thoughts. ;)
I really like that. Very smooth and clean.

Good move on the code base too. Tableless is defo the way to go for most things.
Using Internet Explorer is like urinating in a public swimming pool. It's rude,
there's no excuse for it, and anyone who does it should be ashamed of themselves.

I must agree with you, when I saw the thumbnail I didn't see any differences, only when I saw the full image did I see the differences

Indeed, "overhaul" wasn't the best word to use, like ARG said "facelift" would have been a better choice. The design is new but the style & colors are pretty similar as before. It's still a work in progress so we'll keep you guys up-to-date.  ;)
