How can the SMF community not develop or convert mood plugins of (VB/IPB etc) version into SMF 2.0 ?
Old mods are the legal property of their authors, unless someone has permission to take them over and update them, any mod that does the same thing must be a fresh-from-scratch development.
Add to that that SMF 2.0 spent several years in development, and most of the authors of 1.x mods have long since moved on to other things, so they're not around to give their permission - and that most of the really good mod authors did pretty much the same a while back, it's not like there are many people left who could really make magic with modding to build such things, and it doesn't help that the community isn't exactly that nice to modders (always wanting more, and expecting the modder to provide support pretty much forever, etc.)
This is why I stopped writing mods for SMF.
The sad part is that it isn't even that hard to do with a little ingenuity, and could even be done in a way that didn't really affect performance and with only a single template edit, but even that would trigger an awful lot of support hassle.
