@Maxx and @G1
I'm not afraid of advancement and I'm certainly not remaining 'behind' due to fear or any kind.
I am seriously technically challenged and all things code and programming are beyond my grasp. I had one of the tech guys from my web hosting company (who has been outstanding in patience and service of the years - so much so that I could call him a friend rather than a business acquaintance!) was helping me to set up the forum to begin with and when I spoke of the 2.0 version he said he had read up on it and it wasn't stable or recommended. Could he have been talking about a completely different version that hasn't been fully tested or something? I really wouldn't know.
If it is indeed recommended, simple and stable, I would happily upgrade. I'm very worried about the security issues on the 1.1.11 version and how hard it is to find decent themes and other mods to work with it. I don't much fancy being left behind when moving forward could be more rewarding and beneficial to me as an administrator and my members.
Thank you for your comments. And again - nice work on the theme! There are some great designs with DS!
Say friend no problems, you are not the only one holding on to 1.1, but sooner or later it will need to be upgraded, and in regard to the themes they must move forward with the newer coding as it progresses forward, and it's allot of work learn adjusting and creating for the present and the future to looking back, is all I'm saying.
Many bigger hosting companies are keeping up with these changes also, and now we have newer versions of html, xhtml, CSS and php coding moving forward and although many still love lots of graphics in their themes, industry is moving more toward the CSS based themes with less and less images an faster loading times, give the business cleaner, faster themes with more room for content, flash advertisements and galleries, and member interaction.
The SMF is as I mention before working very well for many for a long time now and it is a release candidate, and has good security and spam protect and versatility.
I have worked with many boards and even those that cost plenty, and I have spent plenty on them, that can not compare to this one, and believe me if someone wants to hack your forum they will, no mater what you have and or payed for. I don't want to bash and names but some of the more popular are hacked and spammed easier than the 2 RC3.
